Encore - Self Preservation (Reissue)

A full-length conscious hip-hop album originally released in 2000 reissued on Architects Black Madonna. Known for his sharp, cerebral lyricism, Bay Area emcee Encore delivers a defining turn-of-the-millennium boom-bap project. The double LP is predominantly produced by The Architect, who laces the album with soulful, head-nodding beats.

The record features several notable underground guest appearances, including Pep Love (of Hieroglyphics) on "The Situation," Dave Dub on "Esoteric (Exec Anthem)," and Grand The Visitor on "Considadis". As a cohesive studio release, Self Preservation stands as a highly regarded, classic touchstone of early 2000s independent California hip-hop.
